CARAVASARTS

01 – RAISING AWARENESS

Through the artistic medium of kinetic sculpture, this project aims to raise public awareness about the alarming issue of environmental issues, highlighting its environmental impact, and promoting sustainable solutions.

02 – CREATIVE EXPLORATION

The project engages groups of young people on a critical dialogue about plastic pollution. Each group will collect plastic containers from their households, reimagine waste materials as art materials and discover innovative approaches to addressing this global challenge.
We draw inspiration from the kinetic art sculptures of Calder, exploring ways to adapt his principles of movement, balance, and form to create impactful installations centred around plastic waste.

03 – EDUCATION AND EMPOWERMENT

Conduct hands-on workshops where participants transform plastic waste into artistic components and build and hang their own kinetic sculptures.
Artist talks, and educational programs that provide participants with knowledge about plastic pollution (documentary and films about the danger of plastic in the ecosystems), and sustainable practices.
Empower individuals to become ambassadors for change within their families.

04 – LEGACY AND OUTREACH

Engaging with the schools’ program is a fundamental aspect of this project. Our project seeks to be part of the extracurricular program and influence the content of the curriculum. We collaborate with educators, students, and staff, aiming to cultivate a sense of ownership and pride within children’s collectives and extend it to their families and community.
The process of creating kinetic sculptures is combined with the school science programme (physics, biology, and ecology). Thus, through the workshops, discussions, and shared experiences, the project aims to actively involve students and educators in the creative process, encouraging their input and insights.
